Engagement of scientists and researchers in knowledge and technology transfer strengthens the co-evolution between scientific contributions and commercial applications. The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Ati joined the closing ceremony of the regional training course on "Environmental Hydrology for Arid and Semi Arid regions" organized by the Regional Training Center of the Hydraulics Research Institute (HRI). The closing was honored also by the attendance of H.E. Ambassador Yasser Shaban, the Deputy of Secretary General of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development-MFA and Ambassadors of the Nile basin countries.


The President of the National Water research Center (NWRC) Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Hai and Prof. Dr. Samy Abdel Fattah Saad, the Hydraulics Research Institute Director were in reception of H.E. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt and the Ambassadors.


The course was organized in the period from 24th June to 4th August 2018, where 17 participants from the Nile basin countries attended the course. The course is organized annually by the Hydraulics Research Institute in cooperation with the Egyptian Committee of the International Hydrology Program. Dr. Saad, presented the history of the development of the capacity building arm of the HRI in strengthen and development of the Nile basin water professionals. Dr. Abdel Hai, in his speach emphasized the technical cooperation going on with the Nile basin countries to support the riparian countries in the different sectors of water engineering field. In his speech, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Ati, the Minister of Water Resources and irrigation highlighted the efforts of the Egyptian government to strengthen the cooperation with the Nile basin countries for better management of the Nile water resources. The closing ceremony was concluded by distributing the attending certificate on the course participants.
